Alberto Pereira Jr: Presenter, director and screenwriter of “Trace Trends” broadcasted by Multishow channel and Globoplay video on demand service. Recently, he released ‘Ismael Vivo” (“Ismael Alive”), a documentary on dancer Ismael Ivo at TV Cultura. Conceived and directed “Eu Vos Declaro…” (“I Now Pronounce You…”) in 2012, a documentary on LGBTQIA+ families. Social artist, actor and journalist seeking the intersection on issues as affection, blackness, homosexuality and HIV.
Bárbara Paz: Born in Campo Bom, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, is a director and producer who also has a distinguished acting career in theatre and television. In 2019 her first feature length documentary, “Babenco: Tell Me When I Die”, won Best Documentary on Cinema (Venice Classics) at the 76th Venice International Film Festival. The film also won Best Documentary at Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF 2020, India), Viña del Mar International Film Festival (FICVIÑA, Chile), and Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival (GZDOC, China). The film was Brazil’s official submission for the 2021 Oscars (93rd Academy Awards).
Bruno Carmelo: Film critic since 2004, member of the Brazilian Film Critics Association (Abraccine). Holds a MA in Film Theory from Sorbonne Nouvelle – Paris III University. Worked for means of communication such as AdoroCinema website, Le Monde Diplomatique Brasil and Rua (Audiovisual University Magazine). Audiovisual teacher and film articles writer. Papo de Cinema (Movies Chat) website editor. Film critic since 2004, member of the Brazilian Film Critics Association (Abraccine).
BRAZIL COMPETITIVE JURY – SHORT MOVIES
Ana Arruda: Director of Curta Brasília International Short Film Festival and Sétima Productions. She produces, as a curator and artistic director, projects in which movies, arts, technology and education are joined. Been dedicating herself into international events on virtual reality and immersive narratives. Always looking for guiding and executing projects where gender equity and diversity are part of the team and the program.
Nay Mendl: A transmasculine filmmaker from the outskirts of São Paulo holds a BA in Cinema and Audiovisual from the Federal University of Latin American Integration (Unila) – with an exchange program at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia – and co-founder of the Maloka Filmes collective. He is the director and screenwriter of the award-winning short film “Perifericu” and a researcher with studies focused on representations of trans bodies in cinema. He seeks to decolonize narratives, in the run-up to Latin American transvestigenere slummy cinema.
Victor Di Marco: Actor, director and screenwriter. His short film “O Que Pode um Corpo?” (“Victor’s Body”) won more than 30 awards and was nominated for the Grand Prix of Brazilian Cinema. He is currently about to finish his next short film, “Possa Poder” (“Can Be Able”), and been working on the development of his first feature film, “Nós a Sós” (“Us Alone”), which participated in the Curitiba_lab and was one of the finalists at the Porto Alegre Audiovisual Screenplay Festival (FRAPA).

Celso Curi: Producer, cultural manager, translator and journalist. Been working on cultural sector since 1968. OFF Cultural Productions director. Creator and editor of OFF – São Paulo and Rio Theater Guide. Writer of “Coluna do Meio”, a press column from “Última Hora” newspaper (1976–1979). Founder of Espaço OFF (1979–1983). Curator of Reside Int’l Theater Festival/ PE. National Coordinator of Movimento Artigo Quinto – an artists’ movement against censorship.
Helena Vieira: Helena Vieira is a researcher, transfeminist and authoress. Studied Public Policy Management at University of São Paulo (USP). Worked as a columnist for Revista Fórum and contributed to several means of communication, such as HuffPost Brasil, Revista Galileu (a cover story concerning transsexuality), Cadernos Globo (“Corpo: Artigo Indefinido” [“Body: Indefinite Article”]), Revista Cult and the newspaper blog named Agora É que São Elas at Folha de São Paulo. Served as a consultant for the TV series “Edge of Desire”. Recently, she became the co-authoresss of the book “História do Movimento LGBT no Brasil” (“History of the LGBT Movement in Brazil”), compiled by Renan Quinalha and James Green, “Explosão Feminista” (“Feminist Explosion”), compiled by Heloisa Buarque de Hollanda, “Tem saída? – Ensaios críticos sobre o Brasil” (“Is there a way out? – Critical essays on Brazil”), compiled by Winnie Bueno, Rosana Pinheiro-Machado, Joanna Burigo and Esther Solano, and “Ninguém Solta a Mão de Ninguém: Um manifesto de resistência” (“No One Let Go of Anyone’s Hand: The Resistance Manifesto”), published by editora Claraboia. Dramaturg, took part in a project on Performing Arts awarded by Focus Foundation, in London, with the theatrical play “Ofélia, the fat transsexual”. Developed, along with Laboratório de Criação do Porto Iracema das Artes, a dramaturgical research named “Onde estavam as travestis durante a Ditadura?” (“”Where were the travestis during Dictatorship?””).
Natália Machiavelli: Natália Machiavelli is an artist, graduated in Audiovisual Arts from Gerrit Rietveld Academie, in Amsterdam. She acts professionally in the fields of music, theater and audiovisual. Creator and director of the Virtual Platform MIT+, the virtual axes of the São Paulo International Theater Festival (https://mitmais.org). In February 2021, Natália released her first authorial music album, “Phya Natashka” (https://tratore.ffm.to/natalia-machiavelli).
