On November 16 and 17, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., the 30th-anniversary edition of Mercado Mundo Mix will take place in the Museu da Imagem e do Som parking lot. The event, which began as a small shop during the 2nd MixBrasil Festival in 1994 at MIS itself, has evolved into a national reference for fashion and the creative economy over the following decade. Curated and produced by \u201cFeira das Ideias\u201d, this edition focuses on fashion, new trends, and consumer culture. The event will also feature the fashion installation \u201cA Grande M\u00e3e Lixo\u201d, by Vicenta Perrotta and the panel \u201cFervo 90 – A D\u00e9cada Mix\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Perrotta is the creator of an innovative social technology tool called \u201cTransmuta\u00e7\u00e3o Fashion\u201d, aimed at including trans and travesti individuals through sustainable fashion. Her work reinterprets discarded clothing, transforming textile waste into unique, high-value pieces. This methodology has inspired over 20 collective groups throughout Brazil, using this approach to create jobs and income opportunities, promoting social inclusion and helping the trans population move away from society\u2019s margins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Led by Perrotta, the collective Ateli\u00ea TRANSmoras is a pioneer in combining fashion, recycling, and social vulnerability, connecting the travesti community with the waste produced by the fashion industry\u2014one of the world\u2019s most polluting sectors. By turning the \u201cugly\u201d into the \u201cbeautiful\u201d through her unique and disruptive vision, Perrotta subverts traditional fashion narratives, challenging harmful practices such as pollution and forced labor present in the textile production chain, including in Brazil.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
