Since 2020, Raya Martigny<\/strong> and \u00c9douard Richard<\/strong> have been documenting the LGBT+ youth of R\u00e9union Island<\/strong>, a French territory in East Africa<\/strong>, to create a series of portraits and a short film rooted in the local context. Through images of self-affirmation and belonging, the artist couple brings together \u201ckwir\u201d and Creole experiences, addressing the construction of LGBT+ identities in the face of colonial legacies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kwir Nou \u00c9xist<\/strong> was first presented in Paris, at the Louvre Gardens<\/strong>, in July this year as part of the Paris l\u2019\u00c9t\u00e9<\/strong> festival. It was later shown on R\u00e9union Island<\/strong>. The exhibition is currently on view at Futuros \u2013 Arte e Tecnologia<\/strong>, in Rio de Janeiro<\/strong>, and has received a special edition created especially for the Festival Mix Brasil<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
