SINOPSE: “The Antique Wardrobe” experiment is a virtual performance based on a casting process, with the candidates involved in the recording of a meta porn video. In this “staged selection process”, each performer proposes in their test a version of “The Antique Wardrobe” by Georges Bataille. In this hybrid face-toface and online action, each virtual window mimics a singular “wardrobe” in which Bataille’s shameless fantasy takes on its own expression. “The Antique Wardrobe” tells one of the most impressive orgies of “Story of the Eye”, lived by eight youngsters.The scene reaches its climax in a destroyed background, with “dirty and naked (bodies), in a wild disorder”, among broken pieces on the floor, secretions of all kinds like blood, urine and vomit, and with the police and the youngsters’ parents knocking at the door, inciting them to an even greater madness, as if they had caught fire, “as if they were torches”. The extreme of the situation leads us to combine realism and performativity with the hyperstaged as a resource to, who knows, reach the real through its other end, or, as Hal Foster says, push the illusionism to the point of the real.
