Marisa Orth
Created to celebrate artistic and personal journeys connected to the history and values of MixBrasil Festival of Diversity Culture, the Mix Icon Award honors, every year, individuals whose work and presence have helped expanding the visibility and freedom of LGBT+ expression in Brazil and around the world.
Since 2017, this award recognizes names that have left a mark on both culture and the festival’s history: Gus Van Sant, João Nery, Marina Lima, Márcia Pantera, Ney Matogrosso, Linn da Quebrada, Renata Carvalho, and Bruce LaBruce. Each of them, in their own way, has contributed to affirming MixBrasil as a space where art, diversity, and social transformation meet.
In 2025, the festival pays tribute to a figure who has been an essential part of this journey for more than two decades: Marisa Orth. Actress, singer, and television host, Marisa has led the legendary Show do Gongo since 1999, infusing it with humor, irreverence, and warmth — qualities that have established her as a symbol of the MixBrasil spirit and of our community.
Marisa is partner, muse, and accomplice in this story. Her career in theater, television, and music has always been defined by the courage to challenge conventions and by her generosity in embracing diversity. With her sharp intelligence on stage and transformative humor, she has turned laughter into a political act and joy into a form of resistance.
The Mix Icon Award 2025 celebrates a brilliant artist whose presence, for over twenty years, has embodied with radiance and generosity what MixBrasil most deeply represents: freedom, creativity, and affection.
