In the continuous flows of existence, there is always something that overflows. Gestures, sounds, and images arising from discoveries—from reinvented ways of living—no longer fit within the contours that once defined the possible. The addition symbol accompanying the acronym LGBT+ announces limitless virtualities: the desire to keep adding and to open space for what has yet to be named. “We Want More”—this is the motto of the 33rd edition of the Mix Brasil Festival of Culture and Diversity, affirming its pursuit of more presences, more empathy, and therefore, more possible universes.
Since its inception in the early 1990s, Mix Brasil has celebrated art as a privileged territory of mediation—from artistic languages to existential perceptions—grounded in plural affections. The works presented here reveal intersections among cinema, immersive technologies, music, theater, and literature, demonstrating that every act of creation is also an act of cultural translation. From the creations nurtured and presented by the Festival emerge perspectives capable of reshaping how we see, speak, and feel the world.
It is in the encounter between languages that this already historic event—dedicated to the celebration of non-normative expressions—exalts the right to exist in all its forms and colors. Diversity is one of the guiding values of Sesc’s sociocultural and educational action. The horizon of rights—with its commitment to equality of treatment and opportunity—reveals how essential it is for democratic experience to foster spaces of coexistence and belonging, where art serves as a shared language.
