MIX.DRAMATICA
Unprecedented projects, works in progress, pre-premieres. The DRAMATICA section of the MixBrasil Festival presents itself as an incubator for the LGBT+ scene. The discussion sessions following the performances aim to stimulate exchange with the audience. This year, the section features eight works—including five solos and one duo—composing a mosaic of existences in motion, between trauma and reinvention. The DRAMATICA stage chooses to be a space for listening to cisgender gay bodies where themes such as mental health, love, abandonment, grief, sex, family, and violence intertwine in choreographies of survival. In the friction between mental health and creation, DRAMATICA, at the MixBrasil Festival, celebrates art as a field of care, resistance, and political gesture.
Three original solo pieces maintain a dialogue with each other—Anvil, Irremediable, and Private Secrets For a Public Sex Life. In Here, Now, Everyone, we relive the journey of a gay child towards adulthood, between reality and imagination. Smoke shows grief and love dissolving into poetic fog. (Des)conhecidos investigates the fluidity of same-sex relationships and the loneliness mediated by screens. Added to this are live performances using immersive technologies, the hybrid opera Puppet Hospital, supported by the Stockholm University of the Arts, which combines performance, electronic music, prosthetic integration, AI-generated voices, and aesthetics led by artists with disabilities, and Long Play, which connects body, ecology, and technology.
