Artistic expressions allow us to observe reality from expanded perspectives. Through the eyes of those who create particular works, we can reinvent our own viewpoints, interweaving them with these imaginaries. This openness to re-elaboration comes together with LGBTQIAPN+ subjectivities, whose multiplicities—represented by the inclusive addition symbol within the acronym—suggest that gender and sexual identities arise from the diversity of feeling and being.
The 32nd MixBrasil Festival of Culture and Diversity gathers works from multiple artistic sources — such as cinema, music, literature, and immersive technologies—that share a common element: the prominence of artists who aesthetically explore non-hegemonic embodiments and performances of gender and sexuality. By presenting these productions within a national framework, the festival seeks to expand the sharing of discourses, representations, and memories that, in dialogue, build a diverse panorama reflecting the many ways of being that genuinely shape reality.
This premise aligns with the values guiding Sesc’s work. The promotion of diversity by creating spaces and contexts for connection, exchange, and experiences around belonging represents an essential dimension of institutional action. These are prerequisites for social interactions rooted in dignity and respect for the multiple ways of inhabiting the world—especially the world we refer to as the body.
